A. Yes. It’s important to remember that federal laws, and possibly you state’s laws, require you to comply with overtime regulations– notably, this is true whether you decide to pay your nanny by the hour, day or week.
As an initial matter, if you are paying your nanny by the hour, a work log is of obvious importance. Furthermore, even if you are paying your nanny a salary, the nanny should maintain a log of hours worked so that if he/she exceeds 40 hours worked in workweek you will know how much overtime is owed.
